Business: Companies poised to report earnings

Today’s one of the busiest of the week for markets, as Bed Bath & Beyond, Constellation Brands, General Mills and Micron Technologies are set to report earnings. Online legal services provider, LegalZoom, is poised to start trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol LZ. Reuters reports LegalZoom plans to sell over 19 million shares priced between $24 - $27 per share to raise $516 million.

Lots of economic data too, including ADP national employment, the Chicago Purchasing Managers Index, pending home sales and weekly mortgage applications, and the Energy Information Administration's weekly crude stocks.

The Biden administration is reportedly developing an executive order directing agencies to beef up oversight of industries dominated by a small number of companies. People familiar with the plans say it could be signed as early as next week but a White House spokesperson says no final decision’s been made.

Worldwide spending on mobile apps grew to a new high of $34 billion in the second quarter of 2021. App analytics firm App Annie finds in highly vaccinated countries where consumer behavior is showing signs of broader economic recovery, apps in hard hit industries like travel and sports have seen a surge of interest.
