Port Canaveral has become the first U.S. port to coordinate COVID-19 vaccine distribution to cruise ship crew members ahead of a possible return to cruising in July. Under the latest CDC guidance, cruise ships can bypass the required simulated test voyages carrying volunteers and jump to sailings with paying passengers if 98% of crew and 95% of passengers are fully vaccinated.
Carnival Cruises have returned to Galveston after a long hiatus. Yesterday, people welcomed Carnival Breeze and Carnival Vista ships back on the docks at the Port of Galveston. Before the pandemic, Galveston’s cruise business generated $1.6 billion annually and it is the fourth most popular cruise homeport in North America.
A Mississippi home generator manufacturer is bringing another 75 jobs to its site in Hattiesburg. Kohler Power has announced a $6 million capital expansion to its plant in the Hattiesburg Industrial Park.
The expansion will bring the workforce up to 675 people.
