How much are you willing to spend on Mom this Mother’s Day? If you’re like most people, the National Retail Federation claims it’ll be $220. That’s $15 more than last year, and $23 more than 2019. The top three gift categories are flowers, greeting cards and special outings.
Hyatt Hotels reported a wider loss for its latest quarter, but says business demand is gaining momentum. Hyatt says the expansion of vaccine distribution and the easing of travel restrictions in certain markets fueled improved confidence in travel in many of the markets in which it operates. Hyatt says revenue per available room -- a key measure of a hotel's performance - fell about 49% in the quarter.
As cruise lines hope for a July return from U.S. cruise ports, Carnival Cruise Line has removed all July cruises except for those on three cruise ships for bookings: the Breeze, Horizon and Vista. All sailings on other ships have been removed for the month. Each time in the past when Carnival removed cruises they were canceled at a later time.
