The International Energy Agency says renewable power capacity grew at its fastest pace this century in 2020, as it raised its growth forecast for wind and solar power for this year and next. The energy watchdog says renewables were the only energy source for which demand increased last year, as government restrictions shut factories, grounded planes and kept people at home.
Marriott International says it expects demand from business travelers to accelerate in the fall as businesses reopen. The hotel chain expects business-transient demand to return faster than group travel, given the lead time that is generally required for group bookings.
Marriott says leisure bookings remain the driver of the company's domestic rebound, and will strengthen further into the summer months."
One of the lifelines for homeowners during the pandemic has been forbearance, an ability to skip or make smaller monthly payments on mortgages under the CARES Act, leaving them more cash for emergencies. A survey by Credit Karma finds while in forbearance, 34% used the cash that would have gone toward their mortgage for essentials like groceries, medical needs and utilities.
