Congressional Republicans are ramping up pressure on the oil-and-gas industry to take an aggressive stance against the Democrats’ tax and climate bill, frustrated that the industry hasn’t done more to help Republicans defeat a cornerstone of Pres. Biden’s agenda. Minority leaders in both chambers are coordinating what one aide called “a full-court press,” cajoling lobbyists and energy executives around the country. Republicans have called and emailed Exxon Mobil, and the industry’s largest trade group, pressing for more forceful opposition to the plan passed by the Senate and awaiting approval in the House.
June was the best month ever for resurgent product tankers. Data indicate average clean carrier earnings stood at $49,685 per day in June, up from an average of around $7,000 in 2021.
