Travel is showing no signs of cooling off this summer, as both demand and prices are expected to stay high. Booking Holdings says there’s still a lot of pent up demand, and travelers have savings to spend. Booking Holdings, which operates Booking.com, Priceline and Kayak, saw a 26% increase in room nights in January compared with 2019, and says demand has kept prices high. The price of flying isn’t showing signs of decline either. Airline fares were up 17.7% in March from a year ago.
Results from a midstage trial showed Moderna and Merck’s cancer vaccine helped prevent relapse for melanoma patients, demonstrating progress in the pursuit of shots to ward off cancer by jump-starting the immune system. About 79% of high-risk melanoma patients who got the personalized vaccine and Merck’s immunotherapy Keytruda were alive and cancer-free at 18 months.
Futures are higher after stocks closed lower on Friday. The Dow Industrials fell 143, the Nasdaq gave back 42 and the S&P 500 was down 8.
