Retirees are coming back to work. Whether it's because of inflation, it just boredom with retired life, a recent ResumeBuilder.com survey finds one in eight recent retirees planning to go back to the job.
You can trace some of this back to the pandemic, according to UNO business professor Mark Rosa. He said a lot of companies offered early retirement to reduce overhead, and a lot of people took it.
"They though that was the time to go, whether they were thinking that right before COVID, I don't think that was on their mind," said Rosa.
But while many workers took advantage of those early retirement offers, Rosa said it appears a good portion of them didn't like it.
"Fast forward to today, and prices are going up, but also, people are saying 'you know, I could have stayed another five or six or seven years,'" said Rosa.
And there are other factors pulling people back to work.
"You need the health care coverage, you might want a 401k to continue to build up your retirement savings, anything else, any of the other perks that came with the job, sometimes are just as important," he said.
