The Dow begins Monday above the 40,000 mark, but that's just a narrow slice of a larger economic picture.
That 40,000 level is a notable record, says UNO professor Mark Rosa, but he says the Dow -- which is an index made up of just 30 companies -- is a very narrow slice of the U.S. economy.
"There's a growing chorus of people that are signaling they would be cautious as we're reaching those new milestones," said Rosa, who said we may run into some economic headwinds.
"Inflation persists, the interest rates are still high, the fed still has their foot on the brakes, we have a lot of commercial real estate loans across the country to the tune of one trillion dollars that need to be refinanced," said Rosa.
