We are one week away from Black Friday, but if you want fewer hassles this season, maybe you better just be patient! Retail is no exception to the staffing shortages employers across the spectrum have been experiencing.
"I don't know if there's an industry that's been spared, so for sure, retail," said UNO business economic professor Mark Rosa.
It certainly hurts when there aren't enough people on the sales floor. Business managers are acutely aware of this.
"You know, somebody wants to come in and buy a pair of socks, I want them to buy it from us and not go three doors down and buy it form somebody else," ROsa said. The thing is, Rosa says that says for the customer, that store three doors down might not have enough staff, either.
"I think it's going to be tough, and the expectations are high," he explained. "You get to where you're going and you can't find somebody to check you out, you can't ask if you have a size nine of those."
He says everyone is going to need patience, from employers to workers to shoppers,
"It's going to be touch and go with getting what you want from a shopping experience," said Rosa.
