Royal Dutch Shell says it will start shutting down its Convent refinery in Louisiana this month as part of an effort to integrate its manufacturing sites and position itself "for the transition to a low-carbon future." It says it's tried to sell the refinery, but found no viable takers. Shell says it will offer severances, other jobs within Shell, or other assistance to plant workers. Approximately 675 employees work at the site.

Alabama has announced a $60 million settlement between the state and Terminix International. The settlement relates to Terminix’s alleged illegal business practices targeting Alabama consumers and violating several provisions of the state’s Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Alabama says Terminix overcharged customers for termite service and in many cases failing to honor their service contracts.
