Investors voted “yes” on buying more stocks on this Election Day. The Dow Jones Industrials leaped 555 points, the S&P 500 gained 59, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite rallied 203. Oil futures notched sharp gains. December crude rose another 2.3 percent to settle at $37.66 a barrel.
Daily cargo service by Amazon Air has officially launched at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The e-commerce giant, which started its own air fleet four years ago, had announced in June that it was leasing a dozen Boeing 767 converted cargo aircraft to join its existing fleet of 70 aircraft.
It is not a huge surprise, but the major cruise-line operators – Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines - have all canceled sailing through at least the end of the year in connection with the latest COVID-19 safety guidelines. Meanwhile, Cruise Lines International Association, the industry trade group, vowed to work with the CDC to resume sailings as soon as possible.
