It was a very positive start to the new week on Wall Street. The S&P 500 rose 45 points, the Dow Jones Industrials jumped 314, and the Nasdaq Composite leaped 160, or 1.2 percent.

A Jefferson Parish textile-rental company is investing $15 million to build a massive, new commercial laundry facility. Founded nearly a century ago (1929), family-owned Loop Linen Service – which rents items like table linen, garments and walk-off mats for the food and beverage and hospitality industries – plans to build a 55,000 square-foot laundry facility … creating nearly 50 new indirect jobs in the Southeast Region in the process.


U.S. oil futures have been quite volatile of late, and today they retreated. November crude fell $1.03, or 1.2 percent, to settle at $86.66 a barrel.
