It seems everything in America needs to be defined by politics. Newsmax TV host Bianca de la Garza condemned country singer Oliver Anthony because he's NOT a Republican. Anthony's song - "Rich Men North of Richmond" has become a huge hit and has become one of the latest anthems for the conservative movement in America.

Here are some of the lyrics for "Rich Men North of Richmond:"

I've been sellin' my soul, workin' all day
Overtime hours for bullshit pay
So I can sit out here and waste my life away
Drag back home and drown my troubles away

It's a damn shame what the world's gotten to
For people like me and people like you
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true
But it is, oh, it is

Livin' in the new world
With an old soul
These rich men north of Richmond
Lord knows they all just wanna have total control
Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do
And they don't think you know, but I know that you do
'Cause your dollar ain't shit and it's taxed to no end'
Cause of rich men north of Richmond

The title of the song refers to the politicians in D.C. - the "rich men north of Richmond" - and it's a song about a hard-working American who is frustrated with the rich politicians famous for pandering to themselves over acting as the public servants they were elected to be. The message of the song resonated with conservatives, and it was anointed as the latest anthem for the conservative movement in the wake of "Try That In A Small Town" by Jason Aldean. But there's a problem.

Oliver Anthony is not a Republican and refuses to take sides in politics. Anthony goes so far as to proclaim that the song was not intended to be any kind of anthem for the conservative movement.

That public position angered Newsmax host de la Garza Newmax contributor Chrissy Clark said, "It's a little odd to me that he's almost slapping in the face the people that made him famous. It's off-putting, I don't like this."

The Newmax host and contributor are proving that the goal of most cable news networks is not to report the news - but to feed meat to the audiences in the form of strict partisanship.

Any song can be interpreted by its audience - but to demand that the writer of a song that some believe must be about conservatives in America say the song was intended to be an anthem for the conservative movement reflects the extent to which the balance of everything in America is weighted on a political scale.

Sad.
