Scoot: Fox News finds the courage to call Marjorie Taylor Greene an “idiot”

Fox News, the conservative cable news network, published an op-ed article in which the outspoken Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene was called an “idiot” who is trying to “wreck” the Republican Party. For a network that consistently promotes and protects conservative politicians, calling Marjorie Taylor Greene an idiot was a big deal.

The Fox News op-ed said, “Marjorie Taylor Greene is an idiot.  She is trying to wreck the GOP.”  The article also accused MTG of displaying “bombastic self-serving showmanship and drama queen energy” and said she should focus that energy on the Democrats and not her own party.  MTG was also criticized for her “wild antics and equally hare-brained conspiracy theories.”

I have been talking about what an idiot Marjorie Taylor Greene is and that she is trying to destroy the Republican Party for at least a year now and I’m glad Fox News figured it out.  MTG is part of a small group of Republicans who can be classified as right-wing radicals who want to take control of the party and shape it into a new party with Trump as their leader.  I’m sure there are some MAGA supporters who would like Trump to win in November and remain president as long as he can physically handle the job.  I know that is not possible within the rules of our democracy, but I worry about Trump and some of the MAGA people disregarding the rules for what they believe is for the greater good of America.

The most positive thing about the Fox News op-ed openly bashing MTG is that the conservative network called out a Republican.  One of the problems we have in America that is contributing to the great American divide is that the two primary political tribes are so protective of their political ideology that they refuse to call out their own.  Fox News, known for protecting and pandering to conservatives called MTG an idiot and accused her of trying to destroy the Republican Party.  This is a moment to celebrate.

And it’s not just Republicans.  Democrats are reluctant to call out their own.  A post on the SOTA Facebook page said that MTG is to the Republicans what AOC is to the Democrats.  That’s accurate. Democrats refuse to bash members of their party that deserve bashing. Let’s face it - Nancy Pelosi and others on the left are allowed to enhance the negative image of Democrats as if all Democrats are left-wing progressive radicals and we know that’s not true.  And just because the right-wingers post nonsense on social media about all Democrats being baby-killing blood-drinking fiends does not mean it’s true.

Police officers have been known to never call out their own.  In families, we may be reluctant to call out our own, but when we fail to call out the negative behavior of any members of a group, then the entire group suffers with a negative image.

I applaud Fox News for having the courage to call out Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has been deserving of a good bashing and I encourage more Republicans and Democrats to call out their own when it’s deserved.

There will be Republicans, especially right-wing radicals, who will bash me for writing the blog, but they won’t take the time or make the effort to bash Fox News because they can’t bring themselves to bash their conservative network  It will also be interesting to see if some conservatives turn on Fox News for bashing MTG and shift their viewing allegiance to NewsMax or another one of the extremely right-wing rabbit hole networks.

But let’s relish this moment when the conservative Fox News did call out one of their own - Marjorie Taylor Greene - who does threaten the Republican party with her rare brand of stupidity.

If more Republicans and Democrats begin being honest about their own members who threaten the image of their parties, then maybe there will be a break in the hateful American divide.
