Business: Half of us plan to travel this spring, Louisiana among states suing Biden over pipeline

After a year of lockdowns, we’re itching to hit the road. A new Tripadvisor survey finds that 50% of us are planning a trip this spring. Of those, 66% are searching for domestic destinations. But many are ditching cities, and are gravitating toward outdoor-centric trips.

Norwegian has become the first of the world’s big cruise brands to give up on the idea of a June restart. The Miami-based cruise operator has canceled all departures through the end of June. Royal Caribbean, Carnival and MSC have canceled all, or most, cruises through the end of May.


A group of red states are suing the Biden administration for revoking the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, which the president did via executive order on his first day in office. The lawsuit is led by Montana and Texas, and backed by 19 other states, including Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi.  The lawsuit claims the president and his Cabinet officials  are exceeding their authorities.

Futures are mixed after stocks closed at record highs again. The Dow Industrials jumped 189 to finish above 33,000 for the first time, the Nasdaq gained 53 and the S&P 500 was up 11.
