Authorities have arrested a 34-year-old Holden man in connection with a boating accident that caused two deaths and several injuries.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested Jason Chiasson Jr. for the July 28 incident on the Tickfaw River.

LDWF Sgt. Randy Lanoux says Chiasson Jr. was driving a Sea Fox up the river when the collision with a pontoon boat happened just after midnight.

"The operator of the pontoon boat was killed, and a female passenger on board the Sea Fox (was killed,)" said Lanoux.

"It's an unfortunate situation," Lanoux continued. "There's no winners here."

Chiasson was booked into the Livingston Parish jail on multiple counts, including vehicular manslaughter, first-degree vehicular negligent injury, and DWI.
