One person is dead and four others are injured after two Seventh Ward shootings that New Orleans police say are related.
Those shootings happened around 4 p.m. Monday at two locations located about a half-mile from each other.
Police were first called to a shooting at the corner of North Claiborne Avenue at Elysian Fields. Police say one person was wounded in that shooting. That person was taken to a local hospital. Police say that victim is in critical condition.
At the same time dispatchers received the call of the first shooting, 911 received a call about another shooting eight blocks away at the corner of Henriette Delille and Pauger Streets. Police initially said five people were shot at that location, but they later corrected their report to say only four people were shot at this location. One of those victims, identified only as a man, died at an area hospital. The three other victims went to area hospitals via private means. They are listed as stable, but police did not provide their conditions.
