Ten passengers and crew members on a Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) ship bound for the Port of New Orleans have been diagnosed with COVID.

The city of New Orleans says its health department, along with the Louisiana Department of Health, are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on initiating COVID protocols.

"NCL has been adhering to appropriate quarantine and isolation protocols as new cases and exposures have been identified aboard this vessel," the city said in a news release. "Additionally, every individual aboard will be tested for COVID-19 prior to disembarking, and will be provided post-exposure and quarantine public health guidance by the CDC."

The Norwegian Breakaway left New Orleans Nov. 28 with stops in Belize, Honduras, and Mexico with more than 3,200 people on board.

LDH and the city of New Orleans will provide updates should new developments arise.
