11 arrested, guns, drugs seized in stolen car investigation

The New Orleans Police Department, with help from Louisiana State Police, the FBI, and Probation and Parole, conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of 11 people Monday, and the recovery of stolen vehicles as well as the seizure of illegal guns and drugs.

"The suspects were arrested in possession of illegal possession of firearms, illegal possession of stolen vehicles, and illegal possession of narcotics," said NOPD Interim Superintendent Michelle Woodfork. "This investigation resulted in five stolen vehicles being recovered, 12 firearms being recovered and seized, and a large amount of marijuana and cocaine was seized."

The investigation led detectives to the 1900 block of N. Rocheblave St., where police say they witnessed the suspects exiting stolen vehiclex and entering a residence nearby. A search warrant was secured, and the arrests were made.

"Yesterday’s operation is an example of the crime fighting strategies we have implemented," Woodfork said.

The investigation remains open. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward.
