Authorities say two people are dead after a small plane crashed near Raceland.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office reports the crash happened last night, but it wasn't until this morning that the wreckage was discovered in a marshy area of Lafourche Parish near Hwy. 182.
Parish president Archie Chaisson identified the two on board as Lyle Panepinto and Lauren Menkemeller.
The plane was reportedly flying from Belle Chasse to Houma.
