New Orleans Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at the intersection of Ulloa Street and S. Pierce.
Police say shortly before 12:30 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to investigate a call of a shooting in that location.
"According to investigators, First District officers responded to a report of gunfire and upon their arrival, officers located the victims suffering from gunshot wounds to their bodies," said police in a statement. "The woman expired on the scene and the man was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries."
