The Colorado State University Tropical Weather and Climate Research has released their Forecast for 2021 Hurricane Activity list on Thursday.
The forecast calls for 17 named storms for 2021 hurricane season. That is more than the 12 named storm average between 1981 and 2010.
Eight of those 17 named storms will become hurricanes with four of those eight becoming major hurricanes.
