New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick shared crime statistics from 2024, which showed a noticeable decline from 2023.
"We did indeed end the year, through 31st of December, with a 35 percent decrease in murders" Kirkpatrick said Wednesday.
She said overall crime in 2024 was down 26 percent compared to 2023.
That comes after 2023's crime reporting showed a drop from 20222.
"Last year, our numbers were, I was told, we were the second lowest crime rate in 60 years," said Kirkpatrick.
The chief said she is eager to build on that success for 2025.
