The state of Louisiana saw a total of 21 tornadoes in a 24-hour period Tuesday into Wednesday.

In all three people lost their lives.


In Killona, a 56-year-old woman became the third victim after a tornado touched down the St. Charles Parish community.

Eight other people were injured from the twister.

Those numbers will likely climb higher once all the damage from an afternoon twister in Jefferson, Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes is figured in.

Locally a twister on the Westbank caused extensive damage to a building used by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and other buildings at a shopping center.

A number of homes on Westbank in Gretna were also damaged.

Damage to an area in the Ninth Ward and in Arabi were also recorded.
