3 homicides, 2 armed robberies, 4 shot, 1 carjacking in N.O. in 24 hours says police

The violence in New Orleans continues to escalate with three homicides, two armed robberies, and a carjacking in just 24 hours according to New Orleans police reports.

Two men and a toddler were killed in three separate fatal shootings on Wednesday.


On Lawrence Road in New Orleans East, NOPD officers responded to a report of shots fired. When they arrived they found the man unresponsive. EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene.

In Central City on Simon Bolivar Avenue, another man was shot and killed by an unknown suspect who jumped out of a vehicle and shot the man dead.

Then on Apple Street, a domestic disturbance led to a two-year-old being shot at a Hollygrove home.

The violence did not stop there, it continued with three separate armed robbery incidents.

On Mandolin Street in the St. Bernard neighborhood, the male victim was inside the location when a suspect came up behind the man pointed a gun, and ordered the victim to the floor. The man complied and the suspect took the man’s cell phone and wallet and then fled.

On Chef Menteur Highway a woman was carjacked after giving three men a ride. Police say the woman drove the men to the location then one man produced a gun and demanded the woman get out of the vehicle. She complied and the men drove off in her 2005 Ford Mustang.

In Central City on South Claiborne Avenue, a man was robbed while working on his vehicle. Police say the suspect lifted his shirt revealing a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone. The victim complied and fled the scene and then flagged down an NOPD officer in the area.

NOPD also says a woman and three men were shot in two separate shootings.

A woman was shot while driving on Almonaster Avenue at North Dorgenois Street. Police say she heard gunshots and then realized she was grazed by a bullet. EMS arrived on the scene and transported her to the hospital.

Then, on Bienville St. at Crozat Street, three men were shot by three unknown suspects shooting in the area. The men were walking when they heard gunfire and realized they were hit by the flying bullets. Police say EMS transported the men to the hospital in unknown condition.
