Louisiana State Police say three young men died when the car they were traveling in smashed into a concrete support column of I-55.
It happened on U.S. 51 in Tangipahoa Parish around 3:30 Monday morning.
"The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2017 Honda Accord was traveling north on US Highway 51 at a high rate of speed," said State Police. "For reasons still under investigation, the Honda traveled off the roadway to the left and struck a concrete support column of the elevated portion of Interstate 55."
The victims were not named, but were identified as a 21-year-old from Hammond, a 20-year-old from Slidell, and a 19-year-old from New Orleans.
