4th of July crawfish?

Think crawfish season is over? Think again. According to Laney King, co-founder of The Crawfish App, there’s still plenty of Louisiana’s favorite crustacean to go around nand it might just be the perfect surprise for your Fourth of July celebration.

“People are always shocked to hear it, but yes, there are still crawfish available, and they’re quite plentiful,” King said.

The unexpected supply comes from the Atchafalaya Basin, where wild crawfish peaked at just the right moment, just  as farm-raised crawfish were beginning to taper off.

The result? A seamless handoff that’s keeping pots boiling and tails peeling well into the summer.

And it's not just about live crawfish for backyard boils. King says several vendors, who typically stop selling boiled crawfish after Father’s Day, are still dishing out hot boiled crawfish, ready to eat.

“Not everyone wants to boil in this heat,” King said. “So it’s great news that there are still spots selling ready-to-eat crawfish even this late in the season.”

Even better: prices are holding steady, making it an affordable treat for holiday gatherings.

So whether you're planning a big boil or just grabbing a tray to-go, crawfish is still on the table for the Fourth of July!
