Six people indicted in the murder of a Lacombe man and his pregnant girlfriend

A St. Tammany Grand Jury indicts six people in the fatal shooting death of a northshore couple and their unborn child.

Back in July, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff deputies found the body of 20 year-old Sylvanus “Jed” Ellis III, and his seven-month pregnant girlfriend, 21-year-old Qile Sanders.


Deputies found the couple and their unborn child, shot to death inside their SUV parked on a road inside the Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge near Lacombe.

Through the investigation, deputies arrested Mikayl Young, 19, Christopher Roberts, 19, Peter Reimonenq, 17, and Shannon Amos Jr., 19.

Carwin Malone, 40, and Treneka Young, 37, also were arrested for helping Young avoid arrest.

On Thursday, District Attorney Warren Montgomery announced that the six people arrested are now indicted in Ellis and Sander’s murder.

Here is a breakdown of the indictments:

-        Peter Reimonenq: two counts of first degree murder and one count of first degree feticide

-        Shannon Amos: two counts of first degree murder and one count of first degree feticide

-        Christopher Roberts: accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice by tampering with evidence

-         Mikayl Young: accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice by tampering with evidence

-        Carwin Malone: accessory after the fact

-        Treneka Young: accessory after the fact
