Classic summer weather Friday and Saturday. It'll be hot and humid with a few downpours around mainly during the afternoon. High temperatures will range from 92-94 Friday and Saturday with heat index values approaching 108. Any downpours that develop will produce heavy rain, a lot of lightning. A few of the stronger storms could produce strong winds, especially on Saturday.
By Sunday our next storm system moves in with higher chance for rain.
This unsettled pattern sticks around through a big part of next week. Each day will feature a 50-60% chance for rain. With abundant moisture around, heavy rain will be the main focus as we watch for street flooding. Some locations could pick up over 5 inches of rain by the end of next week.
No development is expected for the next 5 days and long-range models keeps us quiet through next weekend!
The three named storms we have seen so far this season, Alex, Bonnie, and Colin, are all considered "shorties" meaning they lasted only 48 hours or less and we are seeing more of these types of storms because of better technology. In the Atlantic basin, Bonnie lasted only 21 hours and 45 minutes before it crossed in to the East Pacific basin where it has become a major hurricane. Alex lasted 39 hours and Colin came and went in 24 hours.
