A.G. Landry leads a 13 state lawsuit against President Biden’s oil ban

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry announced his office is taking legal action against President Joe Biden’s moratorium on new oil and gas drilling leases on federal land and water.

Landry made his official announcement at a press conference Wednesday morning. He was joined by select Louisiana Legislators.

In January, President Biden signed legislation banning oil and gas companies from leasing federal land and water for the purpose of drilling exploration.

“Among other things, this over-reach imposed a ban on all oil and gas drilling and lease activities on public lands and offshore waters, unraveling a long standing statitory scheme and destroying state’s interests and completely ignoring law.” said Landry at his press conference. “By an Executive Fiat, President Biden has not only conceded American leadership to foreign countries but he has also doomed American jobs and increased the cost of energy. Has anyone seen the price at the pump lately?”

Twelve other states join Louisiana and A.G. Landry in the lawsuit. Those states include:

Alabama
Alaska
Arkansas
Georgia
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
Oklahoma
Texas
Utah
West Virginia
