Josh Duhamel, known for his roles in the soap opera All My Children, and the Transformers movies among other notable acting roles, will reign over Mardi Gras 2022 as the king of Bacchus.
“We at Bacchus are so excited to once again present a first-class parade with the legendary Josh Duhamel, a fabulous king who is already destined to be a crowd favorite,” said Clark Brennan, Krewe of Bacchus Captain. “After a tough two years, the citizens of New Orleans and our visitors from around the world are ready to celebrate. We are also committed to supporting our local musicians who have been struggling.”
Duhamel joins a decades-long list of Bacchus Kings before him, such as Robin Thicke, Anthony, Mackie, and Jim Caviezel to name just a few. The parade rolls Sunday, February 27, 2022.
The announcement comes as New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is expected to announce the possibility of having all Mardi Gras parades roll down the traditional uptown route in 2022 due to the NOPD staff shortage.
“Oh I think it is more than a possibility, I think it is a certainty, but the devil is in the details as they say and what is that route, is it universal for everyone?” Mardi Gras Guide publisher, Arthur Hardy told WWL Radio.
