The National Hurricane Center forecasts Tropical Storm Sara could get into the Gulf of Mexico after swamping Central America and crossing over Mexico.
"By this weekend the storm will start to pull north," according to WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone.
He says a strong cold front could keep the impacts away from Louisiana.
"Depending on the timing of the front and moisture from the tropical system, some moisture could make it close to the northern Gulf and Florida by next Tuesday or Wednesday. We don't expect a landfalling system in Louisiana, but extra moisture is a possibility."
