Flames erupted this morning in an apartment complex in New Orleans East.
The New Orleans Fire Department says flames spread to about 30 units.
Firefighters say it is a four alarm blaze on Chef Menteur Highway near Interstate 10.
NOFD crews have been working to put out the blaze at the Gentilly Ridge Apartments at 6000 Chef Menteur Highway.
There was no initial word of injuries.
NOFD will work to determine the cause. One witness said it appeared to have started in the laundry room at the apartment complex.
Traffic slowed for about three miles heading west on I-10 from New Orleans East toward the Highrise.
Traffic was also slowed on Chef.
