New Orleans Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of man inside a business on Bourbon Street near the intersection of St.
Peter.
A release from NOPD follows:
NOPD has arrested Daphney D. Jackson in the investigation of a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours today in the 700 block of Bourbon Street and left one person dead.
At about 2:05 a.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location.
Upon arrival, officers located a male inside of a business with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was declared deceased at the scene and was determined to have been struck by a stray bullet fired from outside of the business.
A subject, later identified as Jackson, was detained at the scene by Eighth District officers for questioning by Homicide Unit detectives.
After questioning and through investigation, Jackson was determined to be the perpetrator in this incident.
An arrest warrant was obtained, and Jackson was arrested on charges of manslaughter, obstruction of justice and illegal use of weapons.
