Jefferson Parish officials today lay out their plans for the 2025 hurricane season.
With another busy season in the forecast, elected leaders want residents to get their game plans.
The National Hurricane Center says conditions are ripe this summer for as many as 19 named storms, six to ten of them becoming hurricanes.
Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng says no matter what the forecast calls for, she wants Jefferson Parish residents to be prepared for a disaster.
"The best way to thrive during a disaster is by making critical decisions beforehand," said Sheng. "A community that is more informed and prepared will have a greater opportunity to rebound quickly from weather and climate-related events."
She and other leaders will gather at the Jefferson parish emergency ops center in Gretna this afternoon to announce more details about this year's hurricane preparations.
