Attorneys for Sharon Lewis detail lawsuits filed against LSU, Les Miles

At a press conference Wednesday, attorneys representing LSU Associate Athletic Director of football recruiting, Sharon Lewis, outlined their lawsuits filed against former LSU coach Les Miles and the board of supervisors.

Lewis’ attorneys Bridgett Brown, Tammye Brown, and Larry English say they will file a $50 million Title IX Retaliation and Civil Rico lawsuit in federal court today.

The lawsuit claims the LSU Board of Supervisors; former LSU head football coach Les Miles, and the University’s Law Firm, Taylor Porter, conspired to circumvent Title IX reporting and compliance.

“They worked around the investigation requirements under Title IX…and the requirements for protection of those who reported Title IX sexual harassment and sexual violence incidence,” said Lewis’ attorney, Tammye Brown. “That effort was done to hide documents and information from the public eye and from people like Sharon Lewis. Sharron Lewis didn’t know what was going on until the hush report came out.”

The attorneys say Lewis endured years of retaliation from supervisors when they say she tried to report incidents of sexual harassment.

Bridgett Brown said they would be willing to listen to others and add them as plaintiffs, if they come forward.

"We know there are others out there," said Brown. "And just like we're going to fight for Sharon Lewis, we're going to fight for others too. Because fighting for Sharon Lewis is fighting for other women."

Her attorneys also say a memorandum by Taylor Porter back in May of 2013, documents what they claim is a conspiracy to cover up former head coach’s alleged sexual harassment and Title IX investigations.
