A couple from Arizona is in Jefferson Parish jail after getting into a scuffle with two deputies at the New Orleans International Airport Saturday night.
The brawl with cops caused a huge disturbance at an airport gate. People nearby caught the scuffle on video.
According to the Jefferson Parish Sherriff’s Office, Jennifer Puglia, 36, and her companion, William Brandt, 46, were at the gate waiting to depart New Orleans when the incident happened.
As WWLTV reports, the sheriff’s office says the disturbance started when Puglia got into an argument with a woman and allegedly slapped the woman’s cell phone out of her hand, while Brandt allegedly was involved in a separate incident at a ticket counter.
The video obtained by WWLTV, shows deputies trying to restrain the out-of-control couple.
One deputy suffered minor cuts to his hand from the scuffle.
Authorities say Brandt is charged with two counts of battery of a police officer, one count of resisting arrest, and public intoxication.
Puglia is charged with interfering with law enforcement, simple assault, and public intoxication.
