For this time of year, the weather outside is perfect. Cooler temperatures compliment the holiday season for most people, but sustaining these temperatures isn't usually typical for our region.
So what exactly is going on and just how long will the cold blast last??
LSU Health Climatologist, Barry Keim, says things aren't as cold as you think.
"Temperatures really are hovering around normal, maybe a little lower but not much."
He says the big difference is the duration of this cold snap.
"To have a run like this without any breaks is a bit unusal."
Keim says we aren't getting our normal humid air blasts from the gulf, allowing the cooler temps to stick around. But, he does boast a bright side.
"We also aren't getting deep freezes. Just kind of hovering in the middle."
Keim says relief in the form of warmer temperatures could come toward the end of next week.
