Cops closed down Veterans Blvd. in both directions for hours after a 4:00am shooting.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting at the intersection on Fleur De Lis Drive and Veterans Boulevard," Senior Public Information Officer Aaron Looney said in an email. "Initial information shows two gunshot wound victims at the location."
Witnesses reported hearing multiple bursts of rapid gunfire.
One bullet riddled vehicle was left in the middle of the intersection after the shooting.
An initial police report shows that four people were in a vehicle that stopped at a red light, when armed attackers got out of at least two other vehicles.
"Victims stopped at red light when multiple subjects exited SUVs and opened fire at victims’ vehicle. Victims transported to hospital."
There was no word on the victims' conditions or any arrests. NOPD says one person in the vehicle was not injured, a fourth person ran away. Cops say they don't know if he was wounded.
