An educator at Orleans Parish Jail school is under arrest and facing charges of malfeasance in office of a sexual nature with a prisoner, and prohibited conduct between an educator and student.
Christy Sampson-Kelly is accused of having a sexual affair with an 18-year old jail inmate.
WWL-TV reports over 762 telephone calls, many of a sexual nature, were uncovered.
Dr. Sampson-Kelly is the director of the Travis Hill School, the non-profit charter school run by the Center for Educational Excellence in Alternative Settings.
The inappropriate relationship reportedly started when the inmate was transferred juvenile hall to the adult jail in January.
Investigators looking into the matter report Sampson-Kelly made numerous payments into the inmates account totaling $370.
The investigation is still underway, according to OPSO.
