The COVID pandemic takes down another New Orleans festival, Beignet Fest.

Beignet Fest was scheduled for September 25 in New Orleans City Park but now is canceled due to the spreading Delta Variant.

Beignet Fest joins a growing number of anticipated 2021 festivals that are now canceled, including Jazz Fest and Gretna Fest.

Festival organizers with the Tres Doux Foundation, which serves children with special needs, announced they canceled the fest to protect the children they hope to serve.

“The mission of the Tres Doux Foundation is to celebrate, embrace and enhance the lives of children with developmental delays and disabilities by presenting them as whole beings, and to support organizations that do the same," organizers said in a statement. "As such, we are dedicated to the health and safety of children of all abilities, and we feel it is best to cancel the 2021 Beignet Fest. We look forward to returning in 2022.”

Organizers say people who bought tickets can get a refund or donate the ticket money to the foundation’s grant program.
