An ATV crash on a Louisiana Highway kills a Belle Chasse man says Louisiana State Police.
The fatal off-road vehicle crash happened shortly after 8:00 p.m., Friday on LA 23 near Star Place Drive in Plaquemines Parish.
The crash claimed the life of Alex Migliore, 26, and injured a juvenile passenger.
According to Louisiana State Police, Migliore was the passenger on a 2011 Yamaha Grizzly 550 ATV, driven by a juvenile. The Yamaha was traveling south on the right shoulder of LA 23 when it crashed into an abandoned trailer which was parked partially on the shoulder and partially in the grass.
Both Migliore and the juvenile driver were ejected. Neither occupant were wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Migliore suffered critical injuries and the juvenile suffered moderate injuries.
State Police say EMS took the men to the hospital where Migliore died from his injuries three days later.
State Troopers riding an ATV or off-road vehicle on the roadways is illegal in Louisiana unless directly related to farming or other related duties.
