A pickup truck collided with a bicyclist in lower Plaquemines Parish and the cyclist was killed, according to Louisiana State Police.
It happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday, March 31.
Troopers say 72-year-old Kenneth Oshell of North Carolina was riding a bike on LA 23 south of West Point à la Hache near Fosters Road when a Ford F-150 headed south on LA 23 rear-ended the bike.
"Oshell suffered serious injuries and died on scene," said Trooper Jacob Pucheu. "A routine toxicology sample was obtained from the driver of the Ford."
Troopers say the cyclist was wearing bright clothing and had a flashing strobe on his bike.
The crash is under investigation.
