President Joe Biden will visit New Orleans later today to pay tribute to the victims of the January 1 terror attack on Bourbon Street.
While the White House did not say what time Biden would land at Louis Armstrong International Airport, President Biden will be in the French Quarter this evening to participate in a prayer service. According to Biden's official schedule published by the White House, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will attend the 6 p.m. interfaith service at St. Louis Cathedral. The service is open to the public.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry announced on Monday that he would speak with President Biden when he arrived in Louisiana to discuss his request for a presidential disaster declaration. Landry wants Biden to provided federal security assistance, funding for the survivors of the attack, and funding for crisis counseling for others impacted by the incident.
Expect heavy delays on Interstate 10 between MSY and downtown New Orleans this afternoon into the evening as well as tight security in the area near St. Louis Cathedral.
