Billions of dollars riding on Joe Burrow this Sunday

Billions of dollars are riding on Joe Burrow and his Bengals this Sunday according to the American Gaming Association. The AGA estimates 31.5 million Americans will wager 7.6 billion dollars on the Big Game.

A $100 bet on the Bengals to win the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season is set to return $7500, and Odds Consultant Scott Cooley with Cool Media PR told WWL few in Vegas saw Burrow and fellow LSU legend Jamar Chase’s run coming.

“There were only three other teams with worse odds than the Bengals to start the season to win the Super Bowl, so it’s a great Cinderella story, kind of aligning with Joe Burrow’s collegiate career,” said Cooley.

Cooley said the books that he works with show over 60% of the “spread” money and just over 50% of the money line bets have come in on the Bengals. That means money roughly equal to the GDP of Liberia is riding on the second-year QB and the rookie wide receiver sensation.

While the casual bettors are leaning towards the Bengals, Cooley says the professionals still like the Rams more. Matthew Stafford is favored to win Super Bowl MVP over Burrow, and Cooper Kupp has better odds than Chase to lead the game in receiving yards.

“The professional bettors, the wise guys, are probably on the Rams at this point,” said Cooley.
