St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne today announced that deputies found the body of Anna Mae Chauvin, the missing 71-year-old woman from Destrehan.
"Ms. Anna Mae Chauvin was initially reported missing from Lakeside Mall in Jefferson Parish during the afternoon hours of December 5, 2020," the sheriff's office said.
"With assistance from a local helicopter company, Ms. Chauvin was located in a wooded area just north of New Sarpy, and just west of Destrehan, near a drainage pumping station," said the sheriff's office. "Deputies immediately responded to the area and recovered Ms. Chauvin's body."
The sheriff's office says foul play is not suspected, but the case remains under investigation.
"It is a very tragic ending and the family of Ms. Chauvin are in our thoughts and prayers," said Sheriff Champagne.
