Authorities are testing the water in North Lafourche after discovering a problem with a water storage tank.
"Effective immediately, the Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1 is issuing a BOIL WATER ADVISORY for portions of North Lafourche," officials said in a news release. "This advisory includes all customers serviced by the District in West Thibodaux from the Thibodaux City Limits to the Lafourche-Assumption parish line (on both sides of Bayou Lafourche)."
They say it is a precaution.
"Roof vent damage was observed during an inspection of the West Thibodaux elevated storage tank."
The advisory recommends that customers disinfect their water by boiling it one full minute.
"The Lafourche Parish Water District will rescind this Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health– Office of Public Health after additional samples collected from our water supply have shown our water to be safe."
