St. Charles Parish Waterworks is issuing a precautionary Boil Water Advisory for all of St. Charles Parish due to numerous leaks being reported around the parish in connection with Hurricane Ida.
While the department is currently maintaining positive pressure and all of the storage tanks are full, this precautionary measure is being put in place to ensure quality of water.
All residents are urged not to drink water without boiling or disinfecting it first or use bottled water.
Boiled, disinfected or bottled water should be used for drinking, ice making, brushing teeth, washing dishes and in food preparation until further notice.
Boil the water for one full minute in a clean container.
The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.
The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a bottle or pouring it from one container to another.
Additionally, residents should continue to limit non-essential water and sewerage such as washing dishes, cleaning clothes and showering.
Flushing toilets is OK.
