New Orleans gas station fried chicken empire Brother’s Food Mart has been purchased by a national chain with over 200 gas stations. Brother's currently has over 50 metro region locations that will be added to Mountain Express Oil Company’s portfolio.
According to Nola.com the plan is for the Brother’s brand to be expanded as a result of the acquisition. Over 100 new Brother’s locations will be added in Louisiana, most of those being rebrands of existing gas stations, with potential for an extra 40 Brother’s locations to be built from the ground up.
Mountain Express Oil Company will also begin including Brother’s brand food at many of their out-of-state locations.
Brothers was founded in 1989 by Ziad Odeh Mousa and Turjo Wadud. Both were indicted in 2019 on federal charges that they employed unauthorized immigrants, dodged taxes, and paid workers under the table. Both plead not guilty, but the case is still pending.
