Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - The Buffalo Police Department is again in the splotlight as attorneys prepare to sue the department, city and police commissioner over a violent arrest in May.

The President of the Buffalo Police Police Benevolent Association says he doesn’t believe there will be any charges brought against the officers involved in the May arrest of Quentin Suttles.

The case is again drawing attention to the Buffalo Police at a time when police violence is in the spotlight nationally and as the city begins to phase-in new policies and procedures stemming from recent incidents locally and nationally.

Suttles’ attorney, Joshua Ramos has filed a notice of claim against the City of Buffalo, Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood, and the two officers, Ronald Ammerman and Michael Scheu, and it accuses the officers of excessive force during Suttles’ arrest on May 10th stemming from a traffic stop.

Evans says that recently released bodycam footage showed the officers trying to search Suttles and clearly showed his resistance to the officers' directions.
